I started Ocean early 2023 but I’m far from being a newbie in the legal sector. In fact, I started working in 2007 as an attorney in Brussels and specialized over the years in both contentious and non-contentious matters in relation to Intellectual Property (IP) law, ICT law, Data Protection, Advertising and Media law.

My areas of expertise include, amongst others, doing business on the Internet such as e-commerce, advertising, including digital marketing, the protection and exploitation of a company’s IP (e.g. licensing work) and the development and distribution of software. In addition, as a certified data protection officer, I also assist clients in data protection and privacy matters.

Besides having worked in a Belgian and international law firm, both market leaders in my areas of expertise, I have also done several on-site consulting projects with clients allowing me to quickly identify the client’s internal needs and concerns and being even more proactive and solution-minded in my approach when serving my clients. 

I never felt like fitting in with the more traditional attorneys. Even though I’ve exercised this profession with passion and dedication for many years, it was time for a new chapter.

During my career as an attorney, I had the privilege of working for immensely talented clients who have inspired me to also pursue other of my passions and no longer focus exclusively on traditional legal services. 

After having spent over 15 years as a business attorney in Brussels, I no longer wanted to fit into a conventional box and wanted to be able to focus on different projects. One of these projects is the website you are currently checking out, that of Ocean … As an attorney, unfortunately my services were financially not accessible for certain entrepreneurs, in particular for solopreneurs and small business owners. It is my mission to educate them and render high quality legal solutions more accessible for this type of entrepreneurs, allowing them to better protect their business.

I decided to leave the law firm in Brussels I co-founded early 2016 to move back to my hometown and launch Ocean.

Through Ocean I provide solopreneurs and small business owners access to user friendly legal templates (e.g. contracts) and to legal courses on various topics relevant for their business, falling within my expertise.

On top of the legal templates or even my legal courses offer, clients can still turn to me for more “traditional” legal consultancy services such as requesting legal advice on a particular topic or bespoke contracts or even to outsource legal work on an interim basis.
